Beer by Rail

As usual those starting from Peterborough met up in the Great Northern Hotel, before crossing the road to the railway station, where we found that the four for two rail deal was still going and so the return ticket to Oakham cost only £3.55

At Oakham, we had a couple of drinks and something to eat before it was time to get back on the train to Stamford. Here we met up with Bev and Stuart making our total up to 10. The Stamford Festival was in full swing and we sought out the beer tent for our next drink. But we decided to move into Stamford town after that, and we wandered in split groups to eventually arrive at the Lord Burghley for Alan’s annual pint of Fullers ESB.

After a couple of drinks here it was time to catch the train back and five of us ended back at the Brewery Tap for a final drink and some Thai food.

We were even in time to catch a bus home!
