Walk 08/2007 – Easter in Patterdale

Friday 6th April to Monday 9th April 2007

Good Friday

After a very good trip north to Patterdale (Ullswater Lake) 9 of us (7 men and 2 ladies) arrived early afternoon over staggered times as we had travelled in 3 cars.

We walked as one group for our introductory walk in Patterdale; completing a 3.7 mile circular walk with a small climb and finishing at the Ramblers Inn for a pint of very welcome Theakstons. There was confusion as some of us had not had any lunch and were thinking it was a stroll down to the pub. The hunger was reduced by a hot cross bun break under the trees, and there was much ribbing for those who felt the need to take a handbag rather than a rucksack, a regretful decision.

It was Graham’s birthday and we sampled a variety of beers at a variety of the village pubs. On leaving the Ramblers Inn, Graham, Geoff, Alan and Cathy let out a scream as we nearly fell to the floor after the other side got up and left an unequal balance for the table!! We could not be inebriated just yet surely! It was then onto the Patterdale Hotel, which proved to be the favoured stop over the weekend as many blondes were pulled (a delicious pint of Scarfell Blonde was on sale). The third choice of pub was the small narrow White Lion pub and less favoured, as it was difficult to find seating and did not have the best of beers.
