Walk 08/2007 – Easter in Patterdale
Friday 6th April to Monday 9th April 2007
Easter Sunday
The day started well as the Easter bunny (Alan) had delivered chocolate eggs to our breakfast table as a celebration of Easter and was much appreciated.
Again we split into two walking groups and 4 of us went on a circular lake walk climbing over Patterdale Common and then walking adjacent to Ullswater Lake, returning to the village. The walk was 8.7 miles and took an ascent of 741 metres. The walk was exquisite with several panoramic views of fields, white cottages, the large lake and sailing boats. The water was an iridescent blue adding to the beauty and reflected many of the surrounding trees and shrubs.
On completing the walk we had a tea stop at Side Farm where they baked delicious home made cakes, and if that was not enough we then had a beer stop which was too enjoyable and meant we almost missed our supper.
