Walk 26/2007 – Local wanderings......

Sunday 16th December 2007

We had a dry overcast day for the final walk of the year. Not a frosty start to make it really fresh, but cold enough.

The walk started at Fotheringhay and visited the villages of Elton, Nassington and Woodnewton. We took lunch in the parkland of Elton Hall with some fine views and Alan pulled off another coup for lunch, finding the cricket pavilion in Nassington which had exactly the right number of seats for our group. At times whilst sitting eating our lunch the sun shone through and we contemplated what a good sun trap it must be in the summer.

We got back to Fotheringhay well before dark and finished the day with a drink at the Falcon Inn, where some of the ladies found some very enjoyable hot chocolate.

The boys are interested in how the lock gates work. The girls decide to just talk amongst themselves.
