Walk 25/2008 – Local Wanderings.

Sunday 2nd November 2008

After a bit of a false start (someone put the A605 in the way) eight of us had a very pleasant walk between the villages around Warmington. It was nice to be joined by Jane – a local – and gain some inside knowledge on the area. There had been heavy rain the night before, so I was expecting lots of standing water to have to wade through but it wasn’t too bad. Luckily a lot of the path was tarmac otherwise I think if we’d had to trudge through any more than the two fields of mud we would all have been a foot taller by the end of the walk. Anyway no need to go to the gym this week! We had drizzle all day despite the forecast (according to Jane as Nigel kept reminding her) telling us the sun would be out by lunchtime. Luckily there was a brief respite while we had a lunch. Wildlife was a little scarce – although we did see a buzzard. We also came across a beautiful white Persian cat following a woman and her two dogs?! as we made our way between Warmington and Elton – a very strange sight.

It’s on days like today I realise you don’t have to travel miles to experience beautiful, peaceful English countryside with its quaint villages.
