Walk 02/2008 – Derwent Edges from Cutthroat Bridge

Sunday 13th January 2008

Our second walk of the year and our first trip up to the Peak District. Despite a poor weather forecast and equally poor weather, 13 hardy souls came along for this walk.

The wetness was mainly drizzle rather than full downpour, so most people survived without getting too wet, especially as the rain eased off in the afternoon. So it was a fairly bracing walk along the edges – certainly a walk to blow those Christmas cobwebs away. The ground was farily muddy and therefore progress tiring at times. The route involved a fairly strenuous climb up over the ridge near the end and by this time the light was fading fast as the legs were getting tired. We got back to the cars as it was getting dark.

The day was completed with a drink at the Ladybower Inn.

Walk rating – Good – would have better better if we could have seen the views.

Unfortunately, it was not a good day for views (or photography).
