Walk 21/2008 – Social Walk, Stamford.
Sunday 14th September 2008
This was our second social walk. The intention being for members to bring along the family who might not be able to walk the distances and terrain that we normally walk. There were seven takers for this walk and, apart from Barbara, no additional family members evident.
The route we took started at Bath Row in Stamford, went across the Meadows so that we could enter Burleigh Pak by the western entrance. The park had been badly cut up by the recent horse trials and this presented quite unattractive areas of mud instead of rolling grassland.
We left the park by the northern entrance and after finding a crossing point to the railway, joined the disused railway track path back towards Stamford.
We had a pleasant lunch stop in the sun by the river before passing the interesting garden with the crocodile sculpture.
Careful planning by the walk leader meant that we passed the Toby Norris for a drink near the end of the walk.
