Walk 27/2008 – Braunston-in-Rutland.

Sunday 30th November 2008

Woolly hats and thermals were essential kit as 7 of us set off from Preston, near Rutland Water. Mud and stiles featured a lot on this walk – we must have climbed over every design of stile ever created!

On our travels, we did manage to round up a flock of sheep, only they became less sheepish and managed to round us up (see smug sheep shot). We enjoyed the big winter skies and a very brief burst of sunshine. We passed through some delightful villages before we settled for lunch at Leigh Lodge admiring a beautiful stone bridge. Shortly afterwards, waterproofs were required as it drizzled for the last part of the walk.

With glowing faces we enjoyed refreshments at Manton. The decorations turned our thoughts to Christmas (well, maybe just the female members of the group!).
