Walk 10/2009 – Buttermere, Lake District

Friday 10th April 2009

The journey up to the lakes went fairly well and those that were up for it got a warm up walk in.

The A team

The A team of Geoff, Owen and Colin took in a hill on the way up to Buttermere but the name escapes me.

The B team

The B team of Alan, Andy, Judith, Nigel, Barbara and Simon (Cable) went up over Cat Bells and then back along the edge of Derwent Water. It was during this walk back along the lake that Barbara mislaid another pole.[Ed – together with another “state–of–the–art” knob, I take it?] Walk stats: Distance 4.7 miles Ascent 387 metres.

The C team

The C team of Cathy, Diane and Michelle walked around the base of Cat Bells and then waited at the far end until the B team joined them for the walk back along the lake. Walk stats: Distance 4.5 miles Ascent 241 metres.

Walk rating – Not bad as a warm up

It is a bit grey and cloudy as we start to gain some height up Cat Bells. This view is over Derwent Water looking towards Keswick.
