FUTURE EVENTS |

The Club welcomes non-members on walks and events but requests an additional payment of £3. This does not apply to partners of members attending social events.

This event involves taking a train to Oakham for some drinks and lunch at the Grainstore brewery and then returning by train to Stamford for more drinks in some of Stamford’s many hostelries. The train is then taken to return to Peterborough where what happens depends on how people feel. Usually we have a meal. A good day if you like beer. There’s also some walking between the pubs.
The proposed programme is as last year :
| 12:00 to 12:15 | Meet in bar of the Great Northern Hotel for first drink | |
| 12:52 | Train P’Boro to Oakham | |
| 13:21 | Arrive Oakham for lunch and a drink at the Grainstore brewery | |
| 15:43 | Train Oakham to Stamford | |
| 15:58 | Arrive Stamford for more drinks at one or two pubs – possibilities Green Man, Otter’s Pocket , Lord Burghley, Dolphin, Kings Head, Periwig, and All Saints’ Brewery | |
| 19:59 | Train Stamford to P’Boro | |
| 20:14 | Arrive P’Boro for a meal and a final drink in the Brewery Tap (if it's still open) or the Draper’s Arms if you’re still up for it. |
Taxis home are probably the order of the day. The train fare is approximately £9.20. Food and beer money is extra!
If you live in Stamford you can meet up with us either on the Oakham train or when we get back to Stamford.
Please let Alan know if you are coming so we know to look out for you.

To be held at Andy and Judith’s in Marholm. Arrive in the afternoon any time after 2pm, bring your own food and drink. We will provide bread rolls and salad and a barbecue to cook on. Barbecue fire up time about 4:00. Family and friends welcome. See newsletter for directions.
Please contact Any of Judith to let them know you are coming.

Join us at the Peterborough Beer Festival – about the biggest in the country with over 350 different beers. If you don’t like beer, there are plenty of wines and ciders plus plenty of taxis home.
If you would like to come and want to meet up either before we go in or when we are in, give Alan a ring to arrange meet up arrangements. It’s very noisy in the tents and it is difficult to hear mobile phones to make contact on the night. The entry fee is £5.00.For more details see www.beer-fest.org.uk

We plan to do part of the orienteering course in Wakerley Woods. Meet at the Woodman at 9:30 and we will make our way over there.

We have decided to go to Scotland for our long weekend in September this year. We will be staying in the Glen Urquhart Hostel at the Bearnock Country Centre near Drumnadrochit in the Scottish Highlands. This is a few miles to the west of Loch Ness and about 20 miles south–west of Inverness. The hostel is described as “A 5 star top quality, purpose–built hostel (newly built in 2007) with superb facilities. All the Loch Ness Hostel rooms are en–suite and are tastefully decorated and equipped for the discerning traveller, welcoming individuals, families and groups. It lies in the heart of one of Scotland’s most stunning glens, enabling you to escape from the routine of modern life, relax and enjoy the magnificent views”.
We intend to travel by rail from Peterborough to Inverness and then hire cars to get to our destination. The travel time by rail to Inverness should be approximately eight hours. Rail times cannot be confirmed until three months before the journey but we hope to arrive in Inverness late afternoon/ early evening. The hostel is located approximately 30 minutes by car from Inverness.
The total cost for the trip we anticipate to be approximately £250, this includes four nights bed and breakfast, four packed lunches and three evening meals, return train travel Peterborough to Inverness and car hire based on four people sharing. We plan to have at least one evening meal in a local restaurant the cost for which is excluded.
The booking deadline for this trip has passed. Contact Judith to see if it is still possible to come.

We are planning a ghost walk either in Peterborough of Stamford no doubt followed by a drink to calm the nerves. Details yet to be finalised.

A “faith” buffet (you each bring a dish and we have faith that you don’t all bring the same thing) and drinks (bring your own of them as well), music and chat round the chairman’s. See newsletter for location. Please share lifts as much as possible as there is limited parking. Arrive any time after 7:00pm. Please let Alan know before hand that you intend to come.
